Why is an on-demand hydrogen system inherently different from stored hydrogen?
Stored-hydrogen systems hold a pressurised gas inventory that exists whether or not the engine runs. A PEM enhancement unit holds none: it generates hydrogen and oxygen from purified water only while the engine is running, and the gas is consumed in the intake within moments of being produced. Stop the engine and production stops with it.

Four independent safeguards.
Vibration-sensor start / stop
The unit only produces gas while it senses engine vibration, so it cannot run with the engine off. Sensitivity is adjustable during commissioning.
Water-shortage alarm
Alerts before the stack can run dry, protecting the membrane and stopping production.
High-TDS alarm
Flags out-of-spec water before conductivity damages the stack. Resolve by replacing the resin filter and refilling with purified water.
Over-temperature shutdown
Cuts production if stack temperature exceeds its operating window, for example after prolonged high ambient operation.
What sits with the buyer.
Installation by a qualified technician. We supply hardware, wiring diagrams and intake-injection guidance. Fitting, mounting location and commissioning are performed by your own technician or workshop.
Site and fleet rules. Mine sites, ports, depots and marine operators often have their own modification approval process. Clear the fitment with the site or asset owner first.
OEM warranty and insurance. Notify your insurer and, where the engine is under manufacturer warranty, your OEM dealer. The installation is reversible if removal is required.
Water quality. Use purified water at TDS ≤ 5 µS/cm and replace the resin filter every 6–9 months.

Questions.
Is hydrogen stored on board?
- No. There is no cylinder, tank or accumulator anywhere in the system. Hydrogen and oxygen are generated only while the engine is running and are drawn into the intake immediately, so there is no stored gas inventory at rest.
What protections are built into the unit?
- A water-shortage alarm, a high-TDS water-quality alarm, an over-temperature shutdown and a vibration sensor that starts and stops production with the engine. Sensitivity of the vibration sensor is adjustable at commissioning.
Does fitting a unit affect vehicle roadworthiness or insurance?
- The installation is non-destructive and reversible, and no change is made to the engine, fuel system or after-treatment. Even so, we ask fleet operators to notify their insurer and, where a vehicle is under manufacturer warranty, their OEM dealer before fitting. We make no roadworthiness or compliance determination on your behalf.
Who is allowed to install it?
- A qualified technician: a heavy-vehicle workshop, automotive or diesel technician, marine engineer or genset fitter. We supply hardware, fitting documentation and remote support only — there is no installer network.
What water must be used?
- Purified or deionized water at TDS ≤ 5 µS/cm, polished by the resin filter. Tap, rain, bore or mineral water will trip the high-TDS alarm and shorten stack life.
